A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE HONORABLE CITY MAYOR TO FAVORABLY CONSIDER THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC UTILITIES AND COMMUNICATION/INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AS EMBODIED IN ITS COMMITTEE REPORT NO. 219, DATED AUGUST 5, 2026, RELATIVE TO THE IMMEDIATE RELOCATION OF ELECTRICAL POSTS ENCROACHING UPON THE ROAD-RIGHT-OF-WAY AS A RESULT OF THE CITY GOVERNMENT'S ROAD WIDENING PROJECTS, IN VIEW OF THE POTENTIAL DANGER AND HAZARDS THEY POSE TO MOTORISTS AND PEDESTRIANS

"A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE HONORABLE CITY MAYOR TO FAVORABLY CONSIDER THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC UTILITIES AND COMMUNICATION/INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AS EMBODIED IN ITS COMMITTEE REPORT NO. 219, DATED AUGUST 5, 2026, RELATIVE TO THE IMMEDIATE RELOCATION OF ELECTRICAL POSTS ENCROACHING UPON THE ROAD-RIGHT-OF-WAY AS A RESULT OF THE CITY GOVERNMENT'S ROAD WIDENING PROJECTS, IN VIEW OF THE POTENTIAL DANGER AND HAZARDS THEY POSE TO MOTORISTS AND PEDESTRIANS"
WHEREAS, the concern regarding the presence of electrical posts situated within and/or encroaching upon the road right-of-way as a result of the road widening projects of the City Government was brought to the attention of the Sangguniang Panlungsod considering that their present location may obstruct the roadway and pose potential danger and hazards to motorists, pedestrians, and other road users, which matter was subsequently referred to the Committee on Public Utilities and Communication/Information Technology for appropriate action and consideration;
WHEREAS, in Committee Report No. 219, dated August 5, 2026, the concern Committee recommended the adoption of the appropriate measures which are reasonable, responsive, and consistent with the interest and welfare of the general public;
NOW THEREFORE, on seconded motion of Honorable Bienvenido C. Culve, be it
		RESOLVED to request, as this body hereby requests the Honorable City Mayor to favorably consider the recommendations of the Committee on Public Utilities and Communication/Information Technology as embodied in its Committee Report No. 219, dated August 5, 2026, relative to the immediate relocation of electrical posts encroaching upon the road-right-of-way as a result of the city government's road widening projects, in view of the potential danger and hazards they pose to motorists and pedestrians, as herein specified, viz:

     To direct the City Engineer's Office to immediately conduct a comprehensive citywide inventory and assessment of all electrical posts affected by completed and ongoing road-widening projects, particularly those located within or encroaching upon the road-right-of-way;

     To direct the City Engineer's Office to coordinate with the concerned utility providers, telecommunications companies, and contractors in the preparation of a comprehensive relocation timetable specifying definite target dates for the commencement and completion of the necessary relocation works;

     To require the installation and maintenance of appropriate warning devices, reflective markings, traffic barriers, barricades, and conspicuous warning signs around the posts identified as hazardous, obstructive, or situated within the road-right-of-way, pending their relocation, in order to ensure the safety of motorists, pedestrians, and the general public.

RESOLVED FURTHER, to let copies of this Resolution be forwarded to Honorable City Mayor Samuel S. Co, for his favorable consideration; and other concerned offices, for their information and appropriate action.
