RESOLUTION NO. 2026-0318 (Sponsored by: Committee on Commerce, Trade & Industry & Economic Enterprise & Cooperatives) "A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE HONORABLE CITY MAYOR TO STRENGTHEN INTER-AGENCY COORDINATION AMONG THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT UNIT OF PAGADIAN CITY AND ALL CONCERNED NATIONAL GOVERNMENT AGENCIES PURPOSELY TO ADDRESS THE RISING PRICES OF BASIC COMMODITIES AND TO ENSURE CONSUMER PROTECTION" WHEREAS, with the monitoring of the prices of basic commodities having been regularly conducted, it has been projected that an increase in the prices of such goods is inevitable due to the increasing prices of petroleum products which is primarily attributed to the ongoing armed conflict in the Middle East; WHEREAS, in an effort to pre-empt market price manipulation and hoarding of basic commodities as well as prevent any unscrupulous businessmen from taking advantage of the current volatile situation, this body--aware that regulatory authority over price adjustments of basic and prime commodities resides with the national government agencies--deems it imperatively necessary for the Local Government of Pagadian City to strongly collaborate with all concerned national government agencies for the purpose of ensuring all business sectors comply with the price regulation imposed by the concerned agencies and, in effect, protect the consumers, in particular, and the public, in general; NOW, THEREFORE, on seconded motion of Honorable Ann Marjorie N. Revelo, duly seconded, be it RESOLVED to request, as this body hereby requests the Honorable City Mayor to strengthen inter-agency coordination among the Local Government Unit and all concerned National Government Agencies purposely to address the rising prices of basic commodities and to ensure consumer protection. RESOLVED FURTHER, to let a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the Honorable City Mayor; and to all other concerned offices, for their information, guidance and/or appropriate action.
