RESOLUTION NO. 2026-0248 (Co- Sponsored by: Committee on Commerce, Trade & Industry & Economic Enterprise & Cooperatives and Committee on Ways and Means) "A RESOLUTION RECALLING RESOLUTION NO. 2026-0225, WHICH, IN GIST, APPROVED THE EXTENSION OF THE DEADLINE FOR THE RENEWAL OF LOCAL BUSINESS/MAYOR'S PERMIT AND THE PAYMENT OF LOCAL BUSINESS TAX FROM JANUARY 20, 2026 TO MARCH 31, 2026, WITHOUT INCURRING ANY PENALTIES OR SURCHARGES THEREOF" AND THEREBY RENDERING THE SAME INOPERATIVE OR INEFFECTIVE" WHEREAS, pursuant to Article 255 of the Rules and Regulations Implementing the Local Government Code of 1991, the Sangguniang Panlungsod, during its 22nd Regular Session held on 21 January 2026, adopted Resolution No. 2026-0225 which, in substance, approved the extension of the deadline for the renewal of Local Business/Mayor's Permit and the payment of Local Business Tax from January 20, 2026 to March 31, 2026, without incurring any penalties or surcharges thereof; WHEREAS, upon careful perusal and evaluation, the Office of the City Treasurer, anchored on the need to safeguard the timely collection of local taxes and maintain fiscal stability of the City Government so as not to impair the delivery of basic services, by way of a letter dated 29 January 2026, appealed to this august body for the consideration of a shorter period of the extension of the deadline; WHEREAS, premises considered, this august body, in support to the recommendation of the concerned Committees-to which such appeal was referred for evaluation, consultation and assessment-have underscored the necessity of taking a prudent balance between providing relief to business owners and safeguarding the fiscal stability of the City Government through the timely and efficient collection of local taxes that fund essential public services, deems it necessary to recall the above-cited resolution; NOW, THEREFORE, on seconded motion of Honorable Ann Marjorie N. Revelo, be it RESOLVED to recall, as this body hereby recalls Resolution No. 2026-0225 which, in gist, approved the extension of the deadline for the renewal of Local Business/Mayor's Permit and the payment of Local Business Tax from January 20, 2026 to March 31, 2026, without incurring any penalties or surcharges thereof" and thereby rendering the same inoperative or ineffective. RESOLVED FURTHER, to let a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to His Honor, City Mayor Samuel S. Co, for his information; to the Acting City Treasurer, Ms. Aileen S. Sarcina; the Chief-City Permits and Licensing Division, Office of the City Mayor; the City Auditor, and to Ms. Hazel J. Lu, PZCCIFI President, for their reference, guidance and/or appropriate action.
