RESOLUTION NO. 2024-0721 (Sponsor: Honorable Ma. Alicia Elena V. Ariosa) "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE HONORABLE CITY MAYOR TO ENTER, FOR AND IN BEHALF OF THE CITY GOVERNMENT OF PAGADIAN, INTO A MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT WITH THE PHILIPPINE INSTITUTE OF VOLCANOLOGY AND SEISMOLOGY (PHIVOLCS) WITH REFERENCE TO THE ESTABLISHMENT AND/OR INSTALLATION OF COMMUNITY TSUNAMI ALERTING STATION (CTAS) ALONG THE TSUNAMI HIGH-RISK COAST OF PAGADIAN CITY" WHEREAS, the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (DOST-PHIVOLCS), by virtue of its mandate to acts as the National Tsunami Warning Center for the country which shall provide accurate and timely tsunami information and warning, has collaborated with the City Government of Pagadian for the establishment and installation of a Community Tsunami Alerting Station (CTAS) along the tsunami high-risk coastal community of the city; WHEREAS, to ensure the early and successful pursuance of the foregoing intention, there is thus a need for the formal forging of a Memorandum of Agreement by and between the DOST-PHIVOLCS and the City Government of Pagadian where the duties and responsibilities of both parties have been specified--for which a request for authority to enter into the same has been sought by the Honorable City Mayor; WHEREAS, the body, after careful perusal and evaluation and, finding importance and urgency of the foregoing, deems it imperative to clothe the City Chief Executive with the necessary authority to sign the foregoing deed for and in behalf of the City Government of Pagadian; NOW, THEREFORE, on seconded motion of Honorable Ma. Alicia Elena V. Ariosa, be it RESOLVED to authorize, as this body hereby authorizes the Honorable City Mayor to enter, for and in behalf of the City Government of Pagadian, into a Memorandum of Agreement with the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) with reference to the establishment and/or installation of Community Tsunami Alerting Station (CTAS) along the Tsunami High-Risk Coast of Pagadian City. RESOLVED FURTHER, to let a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to His Honor, City Mayor Samuel S. Co, for his immediate favorable action; to the City Legal Officer; and to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) through its Director, Mr. Teresito C. Bacolcol, Carlos P. Garcia Avenue, University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City, for their information, guidance and/or appropriate action. APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY.
