RESOLUTION NO. 2024-0699 (Sponsor: Honorable Patrisha Kaye N. Asugas) "A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE HONORABLE CITY MAYOR TO DIRECT THE CITY SOCIAL WELFARE AND DEVELOPMENT OFFICER TO CONDUCT INFORMATION DISSEMINATION IN THE DIFFERENT BARANGAYS OF THE CITY WITH REFERENCE TO THE HARMFUL EFFECTS OF HEAT STRESS IN CHILDREN" WHEREAS, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) recently declared eight areas in the country, including Zamboanga Peninsula Region, to experience 42 to 43 heat index which is classified as "danger" category; WHEREAS, this body, concerned and alarmed over such declaration vis-a-vis the ill effects of continued heat exposure to the health and safety of the people more particularly children who are more exposed to heat stress, deems it cogently necessary to direct the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) to urgently consider the conduct of information dissemination to the residents of the different barangays of the city with regard to the importance of protecting themselves during the periods of extreme heat, hence, this request; NOW, THEREFORE, on seconded motion of Honorable Patrisha Kaye N. Asugas, be it RESOLVED to request, as this body hereby requests the Honorable City Mayor to direct the City Social Welfare and Development Officer to conduct information dissemination in the different barangays of the city with reference to the harmful effects of heat stress in children. RESOLVED FURTHER, to let copies of this Resolution be transmitted to the Honorable City Mayor, for his favorable consideration; and to the City Social Welfare and Development Officer, for information, guidance and/or appropriate action.
