RESOLUTION NO. 2024-0602 (By: Acclamation) "A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE CITY GOVERNMENT'S SYMPATHY AND HEARTFELT CONDOLENCES TO THE FAITHFUL CATHOLIC BELIEVERS OF THE DIOCESE OF PAGADIAN AND THE BEREAVED FAMILY OF THE LATE MOST REVEREND RONALD "BONG" IGNACIO LUNAS, D.D., THE FIFTH (5TH) BISHOP OF THE DIOCESE OF PAGADIAN, WHO RETURNED TO HIS CREATOR PEACEFULLY LAST JANUARY 2, 2024" WHEREAS, on 02 January 2024, at 8:20 in the morning, Most Reverend Ronald "Bong" Ignacio Lunas, Bishop of the Diocese of Pagadian, succumbed to death and joined our Almighty Creator due to complications of his heart bypass surgery at the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) in Davao City, at the age of 57; WHEREAS, at the outset, Bishop Ronald I. Lunas who was ordained to the episcopate on?February 11, 2019, was appointed and installed as the?Fifth (5th) Bishop of the Diocese of Pagadian last March 25, 2019, where he exhibited selfless and humble service by pasturing all his sheep in spreading the good news which earned the love and respect of the parishioners;? WHEREAS, the untimely demise of Bishop Ronald I. Lunas is a moral blow not only to his immediate family but also to the entire diocese of Pagadian City whom he served with sincere dedication and compassion; WHEREAS, this body, along with the City Government officialdom, deeply shares the loss and passing of a dedicated Pastor and a pious man who exemplified genuine service to the entire catholic believers of the Diocese of Pagadian City; NOW, THEREFORE, on unanimous motion of all the members present, be it RESOLVED to express, as this body hereby expresses the City Government's sympathy and heartfelt condolences to faithful Catholic Believers of the Diocese of Pagadian and the bereaved family of the late Most Reverend Ronald "Bong" Ignacio Lunas, D.D, the Fifth (5th) Bishop of the Diocese of Pagadian, who returned to his creator peacefully last January 2, 2024; RESOLVED FURTHER, to let a copy of this Resolution be furnished, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Pagadian, Bishop's House, Balangasan, Pagadian City, for information.
