RESOLUTION NO. 2023-0595

"A RESOLUTION EASRNESTLY REQUESTING THE REGIONAL CAVE COMMITTEE (RCC) OF THE MINES AND GEOSCIENCES BUREAU (MGB) AND OTHER APPROPRIATE AGENCY TO STRONGLY RECOMMEND TO THE NATIONAL CAVE COMMITTEE THE CLASSIFICATION AND INCLUSION OF KENDIS CAVE AT BARANGAY DATAGAN, PAGADIAN CITY, AMONG THE CAVES OF THE PHILIPPINES" 
WHEREAS, the Local Government Unit of Pagadian has come into an understanding to develop Kendis Cave situated at Barangay Datagan, this city, as a tourism site of the city alongside the intention to conserve, protect and manage the same in line with the provisions of Republic Act No. 9072 otherwise known as the "National Caves and Cave Resources Management and Protection Act;"
WHEREAS, currently, Kendis Cave has not yet been classified as one among the national caves pending the reassessment report from the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB)-Department of Environment and Natural Resources; 

WHEREAS, given the foregoing, this body, in support of the recommendation of the concerned Committee, to which said matter was initially referred, deems it imperatively necessary to request the Regional Cave Committee of the Mines Geosciences Bureau to recommend to the National Cave Committee the classification and inclusion of Kendis Cave of Barangay Datagan, among the Caves of the Philippines;

NOW, THEREFORE, on seconded motion of Honorable Ma. Alicia Elena V. Ariosa, be it
RESOLVED to earnestly request, as it is hereby earnestly requested the Regional Cave Committee (RCC) of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) and other appropriate agency to strongly recommend to the National Cave Committee the classification and inclusion of Kendis Cave at Barangay Datagan, Pagadian City, among the Caves of the Philippines.
RESOLVED FURTHER, to let copies of this Resolution be forwarded to Regional Director Hernani G. Abdon, DENR-Mines and Geosciences Bureau, Roxas Street, Santa Maria District, Pagadian City, for information and immediate favorable action; and to the Honorable City Mayor, for information, support and follow-up.
