RESOLUTION NO. 2023-0231 (Sponsor: Committee on Public Utilities, Transportation, Communications and Franchising) "A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE HONORABLE CITY MAYOR TO DIRECT THE CONCERNED CITY GOVERNMENT OFFICES/DEPARTMENT TO COLLABORATE WITH THE PAGADIAN CITY POLICE STATION PURPOSELY TO PROVIDE NECESSARY ASSISTANCE IN THE FORMULATION OF AN UPDATED TRICYCLE ROUTE PLAN (TRP) AND TO ADVOCATE ROAD SAFETY BY INCORPORATING THE SAME IN THE PEACE AND ORDER AND PUBLIC SAFETY (POPS) PLAN PURSUANT TO THE IMPLEMENTATION OF A MEMORANDUM ISSUED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT (DILG), DATED OCTOBER 21, 2022" WHEREAS, the Department of the Interior and Local Government, in line with keeping up road safety and curtailing fatal road accidents, issued a Memorandum, dated 21 October 2022, which, in gist, reiterated the prohibition of tricycles, pedicabs and motorized pedicabs on national highways; WHEREAS, in compliance with the foregoing directive, the body, in consideration of the recommendation of the concerned Committee-to which the matter was initially referred for study and evaluation-deems it imperative to commission the concerned City Government Offices/Departments, in collaboration with the Pagadian City Police Station, purposely to formulate an updated Tricycle Route Plan (TRP) and to incorporate in the Peace and Order and Public Safety Plan the road safety advocacy, hence, requesting the Honorable City Mayor for the purpose is most appropriate; NOW, THEREFORE, on seconded motion of Honorable Sam Tyra F. Co, be it RESOLVED to request, as this body hereby requests the Honorable City Mayor to direct the concerned City Government Offices/Department to collaborate with the Pagadian City Police Station purposely to provide necessary assistance in the formulation of an updated Tricycle Route Plan (TRP) and to advocate road safety by incorporating the same in the Peace and Order and Public Safety (POPS) Plan pursuant to the implementation of a Memorandum issued by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), dated October 21, 2022. RESOLVED FURTHER, to let copies of this Resolution be furnished His Honor, City Mayor Samuel S. Co, for his information and appropriate action; to the City Planning and Development Coordinator; the City Engineer; the City Administrator; the City Legal Officer; the City Traffic Management Office; the Motorized Tricycle Franchising and Regulatory Unit and the Pagadian City Police Station; for their information, guidance and/or appropriate action.
