RESOLUTION NO. 2023-0230 (Sponsor: Honorable Ma. Alicia Elena V. Ariosa) "A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND PRESERVING THE ORIGINAL DESIGN AND FEATURES OF THE TRADITIONAL MOTORIZED TRICYCLE-FOR-HIRE, BEING HAILED AS UNIQUE NATIONWIDE, AS ONE OF THE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATIONS IN THE CITY OF PAGADIAN" WHEREAS, it is thus a fact that the principal mode of transportation in the City of Pagadian is the motorized tricycle which has been providing transportation needs of the city residents, guests and visitors, alike; WHEREAS, the traditional motorized tricycle for-hire operating in the city is considered a tourist attraction for it has unique and distinct features from any other ordinary motorized tricycle operating nationwide for it is designed to incline at an angle of 20 degrees up to 40 degrees from the road purposely to enable the vehicle to easily maneuver while traversing the hilly/steep roads of the City; WHEREAS, the members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod expressed concern and alarm over the increasing number of tri-wheeled vehicles dubbed locally as "bao-bao" now operating in the locality--a new design of motorized tricycles--which, observably, have outsmarted the number of traditional motorized tricycles plying in the city considering that, if left unattended and ignored, may eventually lead to the phase out of the traditional motorized tricycle; WHEREAS, in an effort to maintain and preserve the so-called iconic design motorized tricycle for-hire in the city, it is thus cogently imperative to convey this body's strong position to preserve and maintain the operation of the traditional motorized tricycle for-hire in the locality; NOW, THEREFORE, on seconded motion of Honorable Ma. Alicia Elena V. Ariosa, be it RESOLVED, as it is hereby resolved to recognize and preserve the original design and features of the traditional motorized tricycle-for-hire, being hailed as unique nationwide, as one of the public transportations in the City of Pagadian. RESOLVED FURTHER, to let copies of this Resolution be furnished His Honor, City Mayor Samuel S.
