RESOLUTION NO. 2023-0176 (Co-Sponsors: Committee on Police, Fire and Public Safety; Committee on infrastructure, Public Bidding and Community Development; and Committee on Barangay Affairs) "A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE HONORABLE CITY MAYOR TO FAVORABLY CONSIDER THE INSTALLATION AND OPERATION OF TRAFFIC SIGNAL LIGHT SYSTEMS AT THE ROAD INTERSECTION GOING TO GOVERNOR BIENVENIDO A. EBARLE STREET (THE ROAD LEADING TO BARANGAY DAO) AND B.F. ARAO AVENUE, BARANGAY DAO, AS WELL AS ALONG THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY AT BARANGAY TIGUMA PARTICULARLY AT THE ROAD INTERSECTION GOING TO BARANGAY LENIENZA AND BARANGAY MURICAY" WHEREAS, it was brought to this body's attention the worsening traffic congestion at the road intersection going to Governor Bienvenido A. Ebarle Street (the road leading to Barangay Dao) and B.F. Arao Avenue, Barangay Dao, as well as along the National Highway at Barangay Tiguma particularly at the road intersection going to Barangay Lenienza and Barangay Muricay, which is brought about by the unprecedented increase in population due to the city's designation as the Regional Center of the Zamboanga Peninsula Region along with its favorable economic condition; WHEREAS, with such predicament, there is thus a need to establish counteractive procedures through the installation of proper electronic traffic signals and signs to promote safe and orderly flow of people and lessen, if not stop, accidents involving motorists; WHEREAS, for this purpose, this body, in support of the recommendation of the concerned committees to which the matter was initially referred, deems it appropriate and in order to request the City Chief Executive to favorably consider the installation and operation of a traffic signal light systems along the above-mentioned areas; NOW, THEREFORE, on seconded motion of Honorable Sam Tyra F. Co, be it RESOLVED to request, as this body hereby requests the Honorable City Mayor to favorably consider the installation and operation of a traffic signal light systems at the road intersection going to Governor Bienvenido A. Ebarle Street (the road leading to Barangay Dao) and B.F. Arao Avenue, Barangay Dao, as well as along the National Highway at Barangay Tiguma particularly at the road intersection going to Barangay Lenienza and Barangay Muricay. RESOLVED FURTHER, to let a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to His Honor, City Mayor Samuel S. Co, for his consideration and appropriate action. APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY.
