RESOLUTION NO. 2022-1521 (Sponsor: Honorable Teodoro M. Quicoy) "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE HONORABLE CITY MAYOR TO ENTER AND SIGN THE MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT WITH THE PILIPINAS SUPER LEAGUE, REPRESENTED BY ITS PRESIDENT, ROCKY CHAN, WITH REFERENCE TO THE CITY GOVERNMENT'S PARTICIPATION TO THE INAUGURAL SEASON OF THE PILIPINAS SUPER LEAGUE-A REGIONAL PROFESSIONAL BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT" WHEREAS, the Pilipinas Super League, a duly registered non-government organization and a regional professional basketball organizer, is scheduled to launch the inaugural season of basketball tournaments which will be held at Dipolog City and the Municipality of Roxas, Province of Zamboanga del Norte for the period from March 18, 2022 up to April 23, 2022--wherein an invitation had been extended to several basketball teams from the different regions to join and participate in the said event; WHEREAS, the City Government of Pagadian, consistent with its sports development programs, has signified its intention and desire to participate in the said event as it is willing to organize a competitive basketball team that shall represent the City of Pagadian in the said tournament; WHEREAS, to ensure the effective and efficient conduct of the foregoing endeavor, the formal forging of a Memorandum of Agreement by and between the City Government of Pagadian and the Pilipinas Super League is necessary where the duties and responsibilities of both parties have been specified, such that the Honorable City Mayor has sought for legislative authority to sign the same for and in behalf of the City Government, which request merited the support and concurrence of this august body; NOW, THEREFORE, on seconded motion of Honorable Teodoro M. Quicoy, be it RESOLVED to authorize, as this body hereby authorizes the Honorable City Mayor to enter and sign the Memorandum of Agreement with the Pilipinas Super League, represented by its President Rocky Chan, with reference to the City Government's participation to the inaugural season of the Pilipinas Super League-a regional professional basketball tournament. RESOLVED FURTHER, to let copies of this Resolution be forwarded to the Honorable City Mayor, for his immediate favorable consideration; to the City Legal Officer; and to Mr. Rocky Chan, President-Pilipinas Super League, for their information, guidance and/or appropriate action.
