RESOLUTION NO. 2022-0108 (Sponsor: Committee on Public Utilities, Transportation, Communications and Franchising) "A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE HONORABLE CITY MAYOR TO DIRECT THE MOTORIZED TRICYCLE REGULATORY UNIT (MTRU) TO INITIATE NECESSARY CORRECTION/ADJUSTMENT TO THE CURRENT FARE MATRIX BY INCORPORATING THE ROUTES THAT WERE NOT INCLUDED THEREAT AS WELL AS THE ACCURATE MEASUREMENT OF THE ROUTE DISTANCE FOR PROPER IMPLEMENTATION OF THE FARE INCREASE AND GUIDANCE OF THE RIDING PUBLIC" WHEREAS, due to the rising prices of basic commodities, the Sangguniang Panlungsod (13th City Council), by virtue of the letter-petition of the tricycle operators and drivers association, adopted Resolution No. 2022-1636 which, in gist, approved the implementation of a Provisional Minimum Fare Rate Increase for the motorized tricycle-for-hire in the City of Pagadian from Ten Pesos (P10.00) to Fifteen Pesos (P15.00) with an additional Two Pesos (P2.00) for every additional kilometer or a fraction thereof, subject to the following conditions, rules and regulations; WHEREAS, in view of the foregoing, the City Government of Pagadian had come up with a fare matrix to serve as a guide to the drivers and passengers for the purpose of preventing tricycle-for-hire drivers from collecting exorbitant/excessive fare, however, it has been observed that the current fare matrix needs modification and/or correction as there are routes allegedly not included thereat and the distance was not properly measured; WHEREAS, given the foregoing predicament, the body, in consideration of the recommendation of the Committee on Public Utilities, Transportation, Communications and Franchising-to which the matter was initially referred-deems it reasonable and practical to institute necessary corrections to the current fare matrix, hence, requesting the City Chief Executive for the purpose it most appropriate at this prevailing circumstance; NOW, THEREFORE, on seconded motion of Honorable Monique Shaira Y. To, be it RESOLVED to request, as this body hereby requests the Honorable City Mayor to direct the Motorized Tricycle Regulatory Unit (MTRU) to intiate necessary correction/adjustment to the current fare matrix by incorporating the routes that were not included thereat as well as the accurate measurement of the route distance for proper implementation of the fare increase and guidance of the riding public. RESOLVED FURTHER, to let a copy of this Resolution be furnished His Honor, City Mayor Samuel S. Co, for his preferential consideration and favorable action; and to the Head-Motorized Tricycle Regulatory Unit (MTRU), for information, guidance and/or appropriate action. APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY.
