RESOLUTION NO. 2022-0107 (Sponsor: Committee on Public Utilities, Transportation, Communications and Franchising) "A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE HONORABLE CITY MAYOR TO ASSIGN AND/OR DETAIL ADDITIONAL PERSONNEL IN THE CITY TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT OFFICE TO COMPLEMENT AND AUGMENT THE SERVICES OF THE OFFICE WITH REFERENCE TO THE MANAGEMENT OF TRAFFIC IN THE CITY" WHEREAS, during the recently concluded Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) last October 2, 2022, the attention of this Sanggunian has been called relative to the reported collection of exorbitant fares by some unscrupulous drivers of motorized tricycle-for-hire in the city as well as the problem on the worsening traffic situation and the apparent widespread traffic violations committed by several motorists which is perceived to be attributed to the lack of traffic enforcers who shall manage the flow of traffic in the different major thoroughfares of the city; WHEREAS, information has it that the Pagadian City Traffic Management Office-which is tasked to manage the traffic of the city's road network-is currently understaffed with only thirty-eight (38) personnel-which strength is inadequate/insufficient to undertake the demands and scope of the office workloads; WHEREAS, given such predicament, there is thus an urgent need to address the same by assigning additional personnel to the City Traffic Management Office, hence, requesting the Honorable City Mayor for the purpose is most appropriate at this prevailing circumstances; NOW, THEREFORE, on seconded motion of Honorable Monique Shaira Y. To, be it RESOLVED to request, as this body hereby requests, the Honorable City Mayor to increase the personnel in the City Traffic Management Office for stricter implementation of traffic rules & regulations within the City of Pagadian. RESOLVED FURTHER, to let a copy of this Resolution be furnished His Honor, City Mayor Samuel S. Co, for his preferential consideration and favorable action. APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY.
