Ariosa) "A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE HONORABLE CITY MAYOR TO DIRECT THE CITY PERMITS AND LICENSING DIVISION-OFFICE OF THE CITY MAYOR TO CLOSELY MONITOR THE OPERATION OF ALL HOTELS, HOSTELS, LODGING HOUSES, INNS, PENSION HOUSES, AND GUEST HOUSES IN THE CITY IN VIEW OF THE REPORTED OVERCHARGING OR SUDDEN INCREASE OF ROOM RATES DURING THE CONDUCT OF THE LICENSURE EXAMINATION FOR TEACHERS (LET) IN THE CITY OF PAGADIAN LAST OCTOBER 02, 2022" WHEREAS, the City of Pagadian-being the Regional Center of the Western Mindanao Region-has been more often the host of national examinations conducted by the Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC), Civil Service Commission (CSC) including the Philippine Military Academy and Philippine National Police Academy Entrance Examination; WHEREAS, last 02 October 2022, the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) was held in the city where it was revealed that at least 17,000 examinees, many of which came from the nearby provinces, cities and/or municipalities, took the examination and as such had sought for temporary accommodation/shelter but numerous report has it that many, if not all, of the hotels, hostels, lodging houses, inns, pension houses, as well as guest houses operating in the city took advantage of the rise in demand where, accordingly, they had suddenly increased the room rates--an act or practice inimical to the interest and reputation of the city; WHEREAS, the urgency of the foregoing situation now calls for an extensive and exhaustive action on the part of the City Government more particularly the City Permits and Licensing Division of the Office of the City Mayor to protect and safeguard all visitors, both local and foreign, from unscrupulous and opportunistic persons or establishments by closely monitoring their operation, hence, this request; NOW, THEREFORE, on seconded motion of Honorable Ronald Christopher Glenn L. Ariosa, be it RESOLVED to request, as this body hereby requests the Honorable City Mayor to direct the City Permits and Licensing Division-Office of the City Mayor to closely monitor the operation of all hotels, hostels, lodging houses, inns, pension houses, and guest houses in the city in view of the reported overcharging or sudden increase of room rates during the conduct of the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) in the City of Pagadian last October 02, 2022. RESOLVED FURTHER, to let copies of this Resolution be furnished to His Honor, City Mayor Samuel S. Co, for his immediate favorable consideration; and to the OIC Chief-Permits and Licenses Division, Office of the City Mayor, Ms. Lourdes A.
