RESOLUTION NO. 2022-0021 (Sponsor: Honorable Jesus B. Bajamunde, Jr.) "A RESOLUTION STRONGLY ENDORSING THE "BUY LOCAL ADVOCACY" CAMPAIGN OF THE DEPARTMENT OF TRADE AND INDUSTRY (DTI) AND, FOR THE PURPOSE, INSTITUTIONALIZING THE "BUY LOCAL ADVOCACY" IN THE PROCUREMENT ACTIVITIES OF THE CITY GOVERNMENT OF PAGADIAN" WHEREAS, consistent with the State's policy to promote, support, strengthen and encourage the growth and development of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) launched the "Buy Local Advocacy" campaign which aims to boost and improve MSMEs investment, sales and employment which were greatly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic; WHEREAS, in support thereto, the Regional Development Council IX, Zamboanga Peninsula, by virtue of Resolution No. 055, s. 2022, encourages all local government units, regional line agencies, state universities and colleges, and other government instrumentalities to institutionalize the Buy Local Advocacy in the procurement activities, support the campaign and enjoin the involvement of the private sector in the promotion of the campaign, and continue providing assistance to MSMEs in terms of financing, product development and innovation, marketing, digital transformation and capacity building; WHEREAS, finding urgency and importance of the foregoing concern, this body, taking into account the significant role and contribution of the local businesses particularly the MSMEs in the furtherance of propelling the city's economic development, deems it appropriate and in order to institutionalize the "Buy Local Advocacy" in the procurement activities by providing the MSMEs at least Ten Percent (10%) of the total procurement value of goods and services supplied to the City Government of Pagadian; NOW, THEREFORE, on seconded motion of Honorable Jesus B. Bajamunde, Jr., be it RESOLVED to endorse, as this body hereby endorses the "Buy Local Advocacy" Campaign of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and, for the purpose, institutionalizing the "Buy Local Advocacy" in the procurement activities of the City Government of Pagadian. RESOLVED FURTHER, to let copies of this Resolution be forwarded to Honorable City Mayor Samuel S. Co, for information and appropriate consideration; to Provincial Director Flora G. Miraflor, DTI-Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Office; and to Ms. Hazel J. Lu, President, Pagadian City-Zamboanga del Sur Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation, Incorporated, for their information and reference. APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY.
