RESOLUTION NO. 2021-1274 (Sponsored By: Honorable Arnold R. Gavenia) "A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE HONORABLE CITY MAYOR TO FAVORABLY CONSIDER AMENDING HIS EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 61, S. 2021, DATED 03 SEPTEMBER 2021, TO THE EFFECT THAT IT SHALL ALLOW THE DIFFERENT CHURCHES TO CONDUCT VIRTUAL WORSHIP/MASS/EUCHARISTIC CELEBRATIONS DURING SUNDAYS WITH AT LEAST TEN (10) PARISHIONERS/CHURCH GOERS PERSONALLY IN ATTENDANCE" WHEREAS, the Honorable City Mayor, on 03 September 2021, issued Executive Order No. 61, s. 2021, entitled: "An Executive Order Instituting Lockdown for Two (2) Sundays (September 5 and 12, 2021) and Other Measures Supplementary to the Extended General Community Quarantine with Heightened Restrictions," as a measure to thwart the rising cases of COVID-19 in the city; WHEREAS, while the foregoing Order does not specifically prohibit the conduct of a virtual worship/mass/eucharistic celebration during the lockdown on Sundays (September 5 and 12, 2021), however, there is a need to specifically provide in the said Order allowing the conduct of a virtual worship/mass with at least ten (10) parishioner/churchgoers personally attending the same; hence, requesting for the amendment of the same is in order; WHEREAS, requesting the Honorable City Mayor to favorably consider the amendment of his Executive Order No. 61, s. 2021, is most appropriate and in order; NOW, THEREFORE, on seconded motion of Honorable Arnold R. Gavenia, be it RESOLVED to request, as this body hereby requests the Honorable City Mayor to favorably consider amending Executive Order No. 61, s. 2021, dated 03, September 2021, to the effect that it shall allow the different Churches to conduct virtual Worship/Mass/Eucharistic Celebrations during Sundays with at least ten (10) parishioners/church goers personally in attendance. RESOLVED FURTHER, to let copies of this Resolution be furnished His Honor, City Mayor Samuel S. Co, for his information and favorable action. APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY.
