Ariosa "A RESOLUTION PROHIBITING ALL PIG FARM OWNERS, PROPRIETORS AND/OR OPERATORS TO INCLUDE BACKYARD HOG/SWINE RAISERS IN THE CITY OF PAGADIAN TO SELL OR OFFER FOR SALE LIVE PIGS, HOG MEAT AS WELL AS OTHER RELATED PRODUCTS TO ANY WHOLESALE BUYERS, TRADERS OR ITS AGENTS FROM OTHER PLACES FOR A SPECIFIC PERIOD OF TWO (2) MONTHS, AND REQUESTING THE CITY VETERINARIAN AND THE BUREAU OF ANIMAL INDUSTRY TO IMPLEMENT THE SAID REGULATION" WHEREAS, reportedly, there is now experienced scarcity of supply of swine or hog brought about by the effects of African Swine Fever (ASF) Disease that have hit several pig farms in different parts of the country which has mainly contributed to the rapid escalation of the price of hog meat in the market; WHEREAS, the City of Pagadian-while still considered to be free from such virus-is still facing the threat of insufficiency of supply of hog meat in the public market for the reason that pig farm owners as well as backyard hog raisers of the city are selling or offering to sell their livestock to wholesale buyers or traders from other places for a considerable price, and thereby, in effect, prejudicial to the consuming public of the city; WHEREAS, consistent with its mandate to protect and promote the welfare of its constituents, it is thus necessary to institute appropriate preemptive measures to ensure sufficient availability of supply of live pigs, hog meat as well as other related products in the market, hence-it is essential to prohibit the selling or offering to sell live pigs, hog meat and other related products to any wholesale buyers or traders from other places for a period of two (2) months to be reckoned from February 15, 2021 up to April 15, 2021; NOW, THEREFORE, on seconded motion of Honorable Ronald Christopher Glenn L. Ariosa, be it RESOLVED to prohibit, as this body hereby prohibits all pig farm owners, proprietors and/or operators to include backyard hog/swine raisers in the City of Pagadian to sell or offer for sale live pigs, hog meat as well as other related products to any wholesale buyers, traders or its agents from other places for a specific period of two (2) months. RESOLVED, FURTHER, to request the City Veterinarian, in collaboration with the City Agriculturist and the Bureau of Animal Industry, to implement the said regulation RESOLVED, FINALLY, that copies of this Resolution be furnished to His Honor, City Mayor Samuel S. Co; the City Veterinarian; the City Agriculturist; and the Head-Bureau of Animal Industry, for their immediate consideration and favorable action. APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY.
