RESOLUTION NO. 2020-0892 (Sponsored by: Committee on Ways and Means) "A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE EXTENSION OF THE DEADLINE FOR THE AVAILMENT OF THE TWENTY PERCENT (20%) REAL PROPERTY TAX DISCOUNT PROVIDED UNDER SECTION 2A.05, ARTICLE A, CHAPTER 2 OF CITY ORDINANCE NO. 2017-395 OTHERWISE KNOWN AS "THE REVISED PAGADIAN CITY REVENUE CODE OF 2017" FROM DECEMBER 31, 2020 TO JANUARY 31, 2021" WHEREAS, Section 2A.05, Article A, Chapter 2 of City Ordinance No. 2017-395 otherwise known as "The Revised Pagadian City Revenue Code of 2017," provides that taxpayer shall be entitled to a twenty percent (20%) tax discount should the basic real property and additional SEF tax be paid in full before January 1--the specified period for real property tax shall become due and payable; WHEREAS, the City Treasurer, in consideration of the strict implementation of the mandated public health and safety protocols which have affected the livelihood of every city resident and given the proximity of the period for the payment of real property tax, has sought for the extension of the deadline for the availment of the 20% real property tax discount from December 31, 2020 to January 31, 2021, which request was favorably indorsed by the Honorable City Mayor; WHEREAS, the body, in support of the recommendation of the Committee on Ways and Means-to which the foregoing request was initially referred-and finding no legal impediment thereto, deems it reasonable and practicable to approve the extension of the deadline for the availment of the 20% real property tax discount so as to provide real property owners sufficient time and flexibility to be able to pay the same and will, in effect, help spur the local economy; NOW, THEREFORE, on seconded motion of Honorable Troy B. Asugas, be it RESOLVED to approve, as this body hereby approves the extension of the deadline for the availment of the Twenty Percent (20%) real property tax discount provided under Section 2A.05, Article A, Chapter 2 of City Ordinance No. 2017-395 otherwise known as "The Revised Pagadian City Revenue Code Of 2017" from December 31, 2020 to January 31, 2021. RESOLVED FURTHER, that copies of this Resolution be forwarded to His Honor, City Mayor Samuel S. Co; to the City Treasurer; to the City Auditor; and all other concerned offices, for their reference, guidance and/or appropriate action. APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY.
