RESOLUTION NO. 2020-0848 (Sponsored by: Honorable Fernando Y. Pameron) "A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE HONORABLE CITY MAYOR TO MAKE THE NECESSARY REPRESENTATION TO THE UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES (UP) OCTA RESEARCH TEAM RELATIVE TO THE CITY'S CURRENT STATE OR CONDITION IN ITS FIGHT AGAINST COVID-19, BY PROVIDING A REAL-TIME DATA/STATISTICS OF COVID-19 CASES IN THE CITY OF PAGADIAN, PURPOSELY TO PRECLUDE ANY MISREPRESENTATION OF FACTS THAT MIGHT BE CONSTRUED TO AFFECT AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE IMAGE OF THE CITY" WHEREAS, this body expressed concern and alarm over the recent pronouncement by the University of the Philippines (UP) OCTA Research Team in national television where Pagadian City is identified and included among the high-risk places for COVID-19 in the country--which identification and inclusion was, accordingly, based on an unverified data on the number of COVID-19 cases in the city; WHEREAS, it is worthy to note that, presently, the number of COVID-19 cases in the city has indubitably and irrefutably declining due to the implementation and establishment of the city's Emergency Operation Center and the Pagadian COVID-19 Clinic as well as the strict implementation of necessary public health protocols and the conduct of surveillance swab testing, among others; WHEREAS, given the foregoing premises, this body, finding the need to institute appropriate measures to prevent any misrepresentation of facts that might be construed to affect the image of the city, deems it cogent and reasonable for the City Government through the Honorable City Mayor to make the necessary representation with the UP OCTA Research Team and provide them with the real-time data on COVID-19 cases so as to reflect the true and accurate situation of the city; NOW, THEREFORE, on seconded motion of Honorable Fernando Y. Pameron, be it RESOLVED to request, as this body hereby requests the Honorable City Mayor to make the necessary representation to the University of the Philippines (UP) OCTA Research Team relative to the city's current state or condition in its fight against COVID-19, by providing a real-time data/statistics of COVID-19 cases in the City of Pagadian, purposely to preclude any misrepresentation of facts that might be construed to affect and cause damage to the image of the City. RESOLVED FURTHER, to let a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to His Honor, City Mayor Samuel S. Co, for his preferential consideration and favorable action. APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY.
