RESOLUTION NO. 2020-0748 (Sponsored by: Honorable Fernando Y. Pameron) "A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE EXTENSION OF THE DEADLINE FOR THE PAYMENT OF LOCAL BUSINESS TAX, PERMITS AND/OR LICENSES FOR THE FOURTH QUARTER INSTALLMENTS FOR FISCAL YEAR 2020 FROM OCTOBER 20, 2020 TO DECEMBER 31, 2020 AND, FOR THE PURPOSE, SHALL CONDONE THE PENALTIES AND OTHER CHARGES THAT WILL BE INCURRED DUE TO THE DELAYED OR LATE PAYMENT THEREOF" WHEREAS, it is clearly apparent that the present predicament brought about by the rapid increase of COVID-19 cases in the city have continuously brought adverse and ill-effects to the city's socio-economic state due to forced disruption of works, businesses, livelihood and the like; WHEREAS, in relation thereto, several, if not all, local businesses have been experiencing distress while some are on the verge of bankruptcy such that the City Treasurer, by way of a letter addressed to the Honorable City Mayor, proposed for extension of the deadline for the payment of local business tax, permits and/or licenses from October 20, 2020 to December 31, 2020 to help alleviate the burden presently experienced by the local business sector, which proposal was favorably endorsed to this Sanggunian for appropriate consideration; WHEREAS, after careful perusal and evaluation, this body, in recognition of the gravity of the current health crisis and as a measure to jumpstart the local economy by helping the local businesses, deems it logical, practical and reasonable to approve the extension of the deadline for the payment of local business tax, permits and/or licenses until December 31, 2020 without incurring any penalties and other charges for the delayed or late payment thereof; NOW, THEREFORE, on seconded motion of Honorable Fernando Y. Pameron, be it RESOLVED to approve, as this body hereby approves the extension of the deadline for the payment of Local Business Tax, Permits and/or Licenses for the fourth quarter installments for Fiscal Year 2020 from October 20, 2020 to December 31, 2020 and, for the purpose, shall condone the penalties and other charges that will be incurred due to the delayed or late payment thereof. RESOLVED, FURTHER, that copies of this Resolution be forwarded to His Honor, City Mayor Samuel S. Co, for his information; to the City Treasurer, Mrs. Nona Grace E. Duran; the Chief - City Permits and Licensing Division, Office of the City Mayor; and the City Auditor, for their reference, guidance and/or appropriate action. APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY.
