RESOLUTION NO. 2020-0747 (Sponsored by: Honorable Sam Tyra F. Co) "A RESOLUTION RESPECTFULLY REQUESTING HIS HONOR, GOVERNOR VICTOR J. YU, PROVINCE OF ZAMBOANGA DEL SUR, TO DIRECT THE PROVINCIAL INFORMATION OFFICER OR ANY CONCERNED OFFICER/PERSONNEL OF THE PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT OF ZAMBOANGA DEL SUR TO REFRAIN AND WITHHOLD THE PUBLICATION AND POSTING OF POSITIVE TEST RESULT OF COVID-19 PATIENTS IN ALL SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS AS WELL AS ALL OTHER MEDIA OUTLETS UNTIL AFTER THE CONCERNED CITY AND/OR MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT UNITS WITHIN THE PROVINCE SHALL HAVE BEEN DULY FURNISHED A COPY OF SUCH RESULT" WHEREAS, while taking cognizance of the protocol being observed with regard to the information on COVID-19 Swab Test Results of individuals who are residents of the different Local Government Units of the Province of Zamboanga del Sur is being coursed through the Provincial Government of Zamboanga del Sur, however, it is lamentable to note that such information has been directly reported and published on the different social media platforms without having first provided or furnished the concerned LGUs with such information; WHEREAS, such practice or discretion, if not corrected and left tolerated, may cause panic and alarm from the public aside from eliciting disarray and dismay on our united effort in containing, if not preventing, the spread of COVID-19 cases considering the fact that the concerned officials from the different LGUs has been caught tongue-tied as it cannot categorically confirm nor dispute whatever information has been published in social media due to the lack of the necessary documentary results from the Provincial Government of Zamboanga del Sur; WHEREAS, given the foregoing premises, and in observance of proper protocol on the provision of information, this body deems it imperatively necessary to request the Honorable Provincial Governor to direct the Provincial Information Officer or any concerned officer/personnel of the Provincial Government of Zamboanga del Sur to refrain or withhold the publication or posting of positive results COVID-19 patients in any social media platforms or in all media outlets until an official copy of such results shall have been duly furnished to the concerned LGU; NOW, THEREFORE, on seconded motion of Honorable Sam Tyra F. Co, be it RESOLVED to respectfully request, as it is hereby respectfully requested His Honor Governor Victor J. Yu, Province of Zamboanga del Sur, to direct the Provincial Information Officer or any concerned officer/personnel of the Provincial Government of Zamboanga del Sur to refrain and withhold the publication and posting of positive test result of COVID-19 patients in all social media platforms as well as all other media outlets until after the concerned city and/or municipal government units within the province shall have been duly furnished a copy of such result. RESOLVED, FURTHER, to let a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to His Honor, Governor Victor J. Yu, Province of Zamboanga del Sur, for his consideration and appropriate action; and to the Honorable City Mayor, for information, support and follow-up. APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY.
