RESOLUTION NO. 2020-0684

"A RESOLUTION EARNESTLY REQUESTING THE BANKO SENTRAL NG PILIPINAS (BSP) TO ESTABLISH, OPERATE AND MAINTAIN A BRANCH OFFICE IN THE CITY OF PAGADIAN--THE REGIONAL CENTER FOR WESTERN MINDANAO--TO CATER TO THE NEEDS OF PEOPLE IN THIS PART OF THE REGION AS WELL AS THE NEIGHBORING AREAS"

WHEREAS, the City of Pagadian, being the Regional Center for Western Mindanao or the Zamboanga Peninsula Region, is the host to some twenty-eight (28) banking institutions but is unfortunate to note that the yearning of having a branch office of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas has remained elusive up to the very present;
WHEREAS, moreover, Pagadian City--observably one of the fastest growing economy in the entire island of Mindanao--is eagerly desirous for the establishment of such branch office in order to promote and accelerate the advancement of commerce, trade and industry in the city and, without understating the concern of the Bankers Association of Pagadian City with regard to the demand, task and security risk involved while travelling to the nearest office of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas situated at Ozamis City for banking and physical cash requirement; 
WHEREAS, apparently, the establishment of a Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Branch Office in the city will certainly ensure appropriate money circulation not only for the city but also the entire Region IX aside from promoting further the city's economic advancement for the benefit of the general public, hence this request; 
NOW, THEREFORE, on seconded motion of Honorable Fernando Y. Pameron, be it
RESOLVED to earnestly request, as it is hereby earnestly requested the Banko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) to establish, operate and maintain a branch office in the City of Pagadian--the Regional Center for Western Mindanao--to cater to the needs of people in this part of the region as well as the neighboring areas.
RESOLVED FURTHER, to let a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to Honorable Benjamin E. Diokno, Governor, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, A. Mabini cor. P. Ocampo Sts., Malate, Manila, for his information and favorable consideration; to the Bankers Association of Pagadian City through its President, Ms. Jenely T. Montejo; and to His Honor, City Mayor Samuel S. Co, for information, support and follow-up.
