Co) "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE HONORABLE CITY MAYOR TO ENTER, FOR AND IN BEHALF OF THE CITY GOVERNMENT OF PAGADIAN, INTO A MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT WITH THE NATIONAL HISTORICAL COMMISSION OF THE PHILIPPINES (NHCP) WITH REFERENCE TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A LANDMARK/MARKER IN THE CITY OF PAGADIAN AS PART OF THE MARKING OF THE PHILIPPINE PART OF THE ROUTE OF THE FIRST CIRCUMNAVIGATION OF THE WORLD IN CONNECTION WITH THE COMMEMORATION OF THE 500TH ANNIVERSARY (QUINCENTENARY) OF THE VICTORY AT MACTAN" WHEREAS, with the identification and inclusion of Pagadian City among the twenty-eight (28) cities and municipalities across the country where a landmark will be erected as part of the Marking of the Philippine Part of the Route of the First Circumnavigation of the World, the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP)-being the lead agency mandated to promote and disseminate the knowledge of Philippine history and preserve the national heritage-is collaborating with the City Government of Pagadian for the establishment of a marker in the City of Pagadian in line with the commemoration of the 500th Anniversary (Quincentenary) of the Victory of Mactan and other historical events; WHEREAS, to ensure the early and successful pursuance of the project, there is a need for a Memorandum of Agreement to be entered into by and between the National Historical Commission of the Philippines and the City Government of Pagadian where the duties and responsibilities of both parties have been stipulated, for which the Honorable City Mayor sought for authority to enter into the same--and which request merited the support and concurrence of this august body; NOW, THEREFORE, on seconded motion of Honorable Sam Tyra F. Co, be it RESOLVED to authorize, as this body hereby authorizes the Honorable City Mayor to enter, for and in behalf of the City Government of Pagadian, into a Memorandum of Agreement with the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) with reference to the establishment of a landmark/marker in the City of Pagadian as part of the Marking of the Philippine Part of the Route of the First Circumnavigation of the World in connection with the commemoration of the 500th anniversary (Quincentenary) of the Victory at Mactan. RESOLVED FURTHER, to let copies of this Resolution be forwarded to the Honorable City Mayor, for appropriate action; to the City Legal Officer; and to Executive Director Restituto L. Aguilar, National Historical Commission of the Philippines, for their information, guidance and/or appropriate action. APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY.
