RESOLUTION NO. 2020-0533 (Movant: Honorable Fernando Y. Pameron) "A RESOLUTION STRONGLY CONDEMNING AND DENOUNCING IN THE HIGHEST POSSIBLE TERMS THE ILLEGAL SMUGGLING ACTIVITIES BEING OPERATED IN THE CITY OF PAGADIAN AND CALLING ALL CONCERNED LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES OF THE GOVERNMENT TO CONDUCT THOROUGH INVESTIGATION AND IMMEDIATELY FILE THE NECESSARY CRIMINAL CHARGES AGAINST THE PERPETRATORS, IF WARRANTED" WHEREAS, this august body expressed concern and alarm over the reported series of operations recently conducted by law enforcement agencies against smuggling activities in the city which have reportedly led to the confiscation and seizure of smuggled goods and the apprehension of the alleged perpetrators; WHEREAS, this highly despicable and disturbing incident does not sit well within the effort of the City Government to project the city as a tourism destination and safe investment haven thus requiring prompt action from all concerned law enforcement authorities particularly in identifying and prosecuting the perpetrator(s) to demonstrate to the public the earnest effort of the government to maintain law and order; NOW, THEREFORE, on seconded motion of Honorable Fernando Y. Pameron, be it RESOLVED to strongly condemn and denounce, as this body hereby strongly condemns and denounces in the highest possible terms the illegal smuggling activities being operated in the City of Pagadian and calling all concerned Law Enforcement Agencies of the government to conduct thorough investigation and immediately file the necessary criminal charges against the perpetrators, if warranted. RESOLVED, FURTHER, to let copies of this Resolution be furnished Regional Director Moises Tamayo, National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)-Regional Office 9 through Agent Israel Ivan L. Peralta, Acting Agent In-Charge, NBI-Zamboanga del Sur District Office, ZDS Provincial Capitol Compound, Santo Nino District, this City; and P/Lt. Col. Alvin P. Saguban, Chief of Police, Pagadian City Police Office, for their information, guidance and reference; and to the Honorable City Mayor, for information and support. APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY.
