RESOLUTION NO. 2020-0490 (Sponsored by: Honorable Priscilla M. Fernandez) "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CITY MAYOR SAMUEL S. CO TO ENTER, FOR AND IN BEHALF OF THE CITY GOVERNMENT OF PAGADIAN, INTO A MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT WITH ALL LEGITIMATE FUNERAL PARLORS EXISTING AND OPERATING IN THE CITY OF PAGADIAN WITH REFERENCE TO THE PROPER MANAGEMENT OF HUMAN REMAINS FOR PATIENTS UNDER PUIs (PERSON UNDER INVESTIGATION) AND COVID-19 CASES, PURSUANT TO DILG MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 2020-063" WHEREAS, this august body, in line with Memorandum Circular No. 2020-063, dated 27 March 2020, issued by the Department of the Interior and Local Government, enacted Resolution No. 2020-0473, which, in gist, requested the Honorable City Mayor to direct all local funeral parlors to strictly adhere and observe the universal, standard and transmission-based precautions and the Department of Health-recommended guidelines and procedures in handling the remains of confirmed COVID-19 cases and Person Under Investigation (PUI) as a measure to further prevent the spread of such dreaded disease; WHEREAS, in view thereof, the Honorable City Mayor and the different local funeral parlors have agreed to concertedly pursue the implementation of the foregoing endeavor, for which the forging of a Memorandum of Agreement is most necessary where the duties and responsibilities of both parties have been specified, thus a request for legislative authority has been sought by the Honorable City Mayor; WHEREAS, upon careful perusal and evaluation, this body, finding importance and urgency of the foregoing, deems it imperatively necessary to clothe the Honorable City Mayor with the authority to represent the City Government in the formal forging of such deed; NOW, THEREFORE, on seconded motion of Honorable Priscilla M. Fernandez, be it RESOLVED to authorize, as this body hereby authorizes City Mayor Samuel S. Co to enter, for and in behalf of the City Government of Pagadian, into a Memorandum of Agreement with all legitimate funeral parlors existing and operating in the City of Pagadian with reference to the proper management of human remains for patients under PUIs (Person Under Investigation) and COVID-19 cases, pursuant to DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2020-063. RESOLVED FURTHER, to let copies of this Resolution be forwarded to His Honor, City Mayor Samuel S. Co, for his immediate favorable action; to the City Legal Officer and all concerned Local Funeral Parlors, all of this city, for their information and guidance. APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY.
