RESOLUTION NO. 2020-0463 (Sponsored by: Honorable Arnold R. Gavenia) "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE HONORABLE CITY MAYOR TO PURCHASE, OUT OF THE CALAMITY FUND OF THE CITY GOVERNMENT, TEN THOUSAND (10,000) SACKS OF MILLED RICE FROM THE NATIONAL FOOD AUTHORITY-ZAMBOANGA DEL SUR PROVINCIAL FIELD OFFICE FOR USE IN THE DISTRIBUTION OF FOOD PACKS/RELIEF GOODS TO THE CITY'S LESS FORTUNATE RESIDENTS AND THOSE WHOSE JOBS/EMPLOYMENT WERE AFFECTED DURING THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE ENHANCED COMMUNITY QUARANTINE IN THE CITY" WHEREAS, following the implementation of an Enhanced Community Quarantine in the City of Pagadian due to the threat of corona virus disease (COVID-19), many, if not all, were affected particularly those workers who have lost their jobs brought about by the sudden closure of some businesses or establishments in the city as well as those workers coming from the transportation sector aside from those considered less fortunate residents of the city; WHEREAS, the City Government through the Honorable City Mayor initiated the provision and distribution of food packs or relief goods to those city residents considered as most vulnerable sector as well as those classified as the poorest of the poor as a measure necessary to help alleviate their living condition during this time of health crisis; WHEREAS, to ensure the successful pursuance of the foregoing program, it is thus imperatively necessary to clothe the City Chief Executive with the necessary authority to purchase ten thousand (10,000) sacks of milled rice from the National Food Authority-Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Field Office for the purpose; NOW, THEREFORE, on seconded motion of Honorable Arnold R. Gavenia, be it RESOLVED to authorize, as this body hereby authorizes the Honorable City Mayor to purchase, out of the Calamity Fund of the City Government, ten thousand (10,000) sacks of milled rice from the National Food Authority-Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Field Office for use in the distribution of food packs/relief goods to the city's less fortunate residents and those whose jobs/employment were affected during the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine in the city. RESOLVED FURTHER, to let copies of this Resolution be forwarded to His Honor, City Mayor Samuel S. Co, for his immediate favorable action; and to the Head-NFA, Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Field Office, Barangay Tiguma, this City, for information, guidance and/or appropriate action.
