RESOLUTION NO. 2019-0231 (Sponsor: Honorable Arnold R. Gavenia) "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE HONORABLE CITY MAYOR TO APPROPRIATE AND UTILIZE THE AMOUNT OF ONE MILLION (P1,000,000.00) PESOS, OUT OF ANY AVAILABLE FUND SOURCES OF THE CITY GOVERNMENT, PURPOSELY TO PURCHASE RELIEF GOODS FOR USE AS IMMEDIATE RELIEF ASSISTANCE TO THE VICTIMS OF THE EARTHQUAKE DEVASTATED AREAS PARTICULARLY IN THE CITIES OF KIDAPAWAN AND DIGOS AS WELL AS THE MUNICIPALITIES OF TULUNAN AND MAKILALA, PROVINCE OF NORTH COTABATO" WHEREAS, very recently, a series of high magnitude tremors/earthquakes have struck the eastern part of Mindanao where the municipalities of Tulunan and Makilala, Province of North Cotabato, as well as the Cities of Kidapawan and Digos have been greatly affected by such disastrous phenomenon; WHEREAS, during such catastrophic incident, based on official report from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, a total of 22 people have been declared to have died and at least 424 others injured aside from the numerous residential houses, school buildings, health facilities, public structures, places of worship, commercial establishments, roads, and bridges that were destroyed and damaged-which, at present, have left at least 4,800 families or roughly 24,000 individuals to take temporary shelter in 34 evacuation centers; WHEREAS, in understanding and sympathizing with the present predicament and situation of all the victims, the Honorable City Mayor has initiated the extension of assistance in the amount of P1,000,000.00 for use to purchase relief goods to help address the immediate and more basic needs of the affected residents, thus an authority from this august body is being sought; WHEREAS, after careful perusal and evaluation of the foregoing proposition, this body deems it urgently necessary, under the circumstance, to extend whatever assistance that could be made available to help alleviate the condition of the distraught victims; NOW, THEREFORE, on seconded motion of Honorable Arnold R. Gavenia, be it RESOLVED to authorize, as this body hereby authorizes the Honorable City Mayor to appropriate and utilize the amount of One Million (P1,000,000.00) Pesos, out of any available fund sources of the City Government, purposely to purchase relief goods for use as immediate relief assistance to the victims of the earthquake devastated areas particularly in the Cities of Kidapawan and Digos as well as the Municipalities of Tulunan and Makilala, Province of North Cotabato. RESOLVED FURTHER, to let copies of this Resolution be forwarded to His Honor, City Mayor Samuel S. Co, the City Budget Officer, the City Accountant, the City Treasurer, and the City Auditor, all of this City, for information, guidance and/or appropriate action. APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY.
