RESOLUTION NO. 2019-0224 (Sponsor: Honorable Teodoro M. Quicoy) "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE HONORABLE CITY MAYOR TO ENTER, FOR AND IN BEHALF OF THE CITY GOVERNMENT OF PAGADIAN, INTO A MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF LABOR AND EMPLOYMENT-REGIONAL OFFICE 9, FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE TULONG PANGHANAPBUHAY SA ATING DISPLACED/DISADVANTAGED (TUPAD) WORKERS PROGRAM AND, IN RELATION THERETO, ALLOCATE THE AMOUNT OF FOUR HUNDRED EIGHTY-SIX THOUSAND (P486,000.00) PESOS AS THE CITY GOVERNMENT'S COUNTERPART FOR THE PROGRAM" WHEREAS, in line with the National Government's policy to implement poverty alleviation projects, the City Government of Pagadian and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) have agreed to provide assistance to the displaced workers in the city in coping with the closure or slowing down of operations of companies as a result of economic disruptions and/or the occurrence of natural calamities, or armed conflicts as well as to augment the meager income of the underemployed and seasonal workers through the implementation of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay Sa Ating Displaced/Disadvantaged (TUPAD) Workers Program pursuant to the provisions of DOLE Order No. 173, series of 2017 WHEREAS, the City of Pagadian has been fortunate to be among the beneficiaries of the foregoing program and has been earmarked an amount of P1,943,500.00 for the afore-cited projects, 20% of which constitutes the city's counterpart fund to the project; WHEREAS, it is thus necessary to authorize the City Chief Executive to formally enter into such agreement with the DOLE-Regional Office 9 and to allocate the amount of P486,000.00 so as to facilitate the pursuance of the projects in the City the soonest possible; NOW, THEREFORE, on seconded motion of Honorable Teodoro M. Quicoy, be it RESOLVED to authorize, as this body hereby authorizes the Honorable City Mayor to enter, for and in behalf of the City Government of Pagadian, into a Memorandum of Agreement with the Department of Labor and Employment-Regional Office 9, for the implementation of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Displaced/Disadvantaged (TUPAD) Workers Program and, in relation thereto, allocate the amount of Four Hundred Eighty-Six Thousand (P486,000.00) Pesos as the City Government's counterpart for the project. RESOLVED FURTHER, to let copies of this Resolution be forwarded to His Honor, City Mayor Samuel S. Co, for this immediate favorable action; to the City Legal Officer; to City Administrator Vince Isaias Quipot VI, in his concurring capacity as PESO Manager; DOLE Regional Director Ofelia B.
