RESOLUTION NO. 2019-0124 (Sponsor: Honorable Fernando Y. Pameron) "A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE HONORABLE CITY MAYOR TO MAKE THE NECESSARY REPRESENTATION WITH HONORABLE DIVINA GRACE C. YU, REPRESENTATIVE, FIRST CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT OF THE PROVINCE OF ZAMBOANGA DEL SUR, ON THE MATTER RELATING TO THE ALLOCATION OF APPROPRIATE FUNDS FROM HER PRIORITY DEVELOPMENT FUNDS FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT AND/OR CONSTRUCTION OF A PEDESTRIAN OVERPASS/FOOTBRIDGE ACROSS THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY AT BARANGAY TIGUMA, PARTICULARLY AT THE JUNCTION OF THE PAGADIAN CITY AIRPORT ROAD, AND TO INCLUDE THE AREAS ACROSS J. P. RIZAL AVENUE AND F. S. PAJARES AVENUE PARTICULARLY BESIDE THE POINT OF INTERSECTION THEREAT" WHEREAS, along with the rapid progress and development now attained in Pagadian City is the worsening traffic condition at some areas of the city which, if not immediately remedied, shall pose health hazard to the motorists and pedestrians alike aside from the likelihood of incurring road accidents; WHEREAS, per observation of the members of this august body, the national highway at Barangay Tiguma particularly at the junction of the Pagadian City Airport road as well as the intersection of J.P. Rizal Avenue and F.S. Pajares Avenue were identified and recognized as areas most vulnerable to traffic congestion; WHEREAS, there is an urgent need for the City Government to institute and undertake appropriate measures to prevent, if not minimize, road accidents involving pedestrians/passers-by aside from alleviating and improving the city's traffic condition through the establishment and construction of pedestrian overpass/footbridge along the identified areas; WHEREAS, in order to hasten the pursuance of the desired infrastructure project, it is but prim and proper for the Honorable City Mayor to make the necessary representation with Honorable Divina Grace C. Yu, Representative of the First Congressional District of the Province of Zamboanga del Sur for the allocation of appropriate funds out of her Priority Development Funds for the purpose; NOW, THEREFORE, on seconded motion of Honorable Fernando Y. Pameron, be it RESOLVED to request, as this body hereby requests the Honorable City Mayor to make the necessary representation with Honorable Divina Grace C. Yu, Representative, First Congressional District of the Province of Zamboanga del Sur, on the matter relating to the allocation of appropriate funds from her Priority Development Funds for the establishment and/or construction of a pedestrian overpass/footbridge across the national highway at Barangay Tiguma, particularly at the junction of the Pagadian City Airport road, and to include the areas across J.P. Rizal Avenue and F.S. Pajares Avenue particularly beside the point of intersection thereat. RESOLVED, FURTHER, to let copies of this Resolution be forwarded to His Honor, City Mayor Samuel S. Co, for information and immediate favorable action; and to Her Honor, Congresswoman Divina Grace C. Yu, First Congressional District, Province of Zamboanga del Sur, for information, guidance and/or appropriate action. APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY.
