"AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE TEMPORARY CLOSURE TO VEHICULAR TRAFFIC OF GOV. J. ARIOSA STREET SPECIFICALLY (FRONTING SANTO NIÑO CATHEDRAL) FROM CORNERS CABRERA AND SANSON STREETS, DURING THE FOLLOWING DATES AND TIME, TO WIT: JANUARY 9-16, 2026, FROM 1:00 O'CLOCK IN THE AFTERNOON UP TO 10:00 O'CLOCK IN THE EVENING, AND JANUARY 17 TO 18, 2026, FROM 1:00 O'CLOCK IN THE AFTERNOON UP TO 12:00 O'CLOCK MIDNIGHT, IN CONNECTION WITH THE WEEKLONG CELEBRATION OF THE ANNUAL FEAST OF SEÑOR SANTO NIÑO"
WHEREAS, the City Government recognizes the importance of ensuring the safety and convenience of the public as well as providing a peaceful and orderly environment for devotees, residents, and visitors who will take part in the weeklong celebration of the Annual Feast of Señor Santo Niño, popularly known as the "Pasalamat Festival", such that the temporary closure of a portion of Gov. J. Ariosa Street (from corner Cabrera Street to Corner Sanson Street) is being sought;
WHEREAS, this body, in consideration of Section 21 of the Local Government Code of 1991 which provides that the Local Government Unit may, pursuant to an Ordinance, permanently or temporarily close or open any local road, alley, park, or square falling within its jurisdiction, deems it imperative to declare the temporary closure of the afore-mentioned streets to vehicular traffic;
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Sangguniang Panlungsod (15th City Council) of Pagadian City in session assembled that:
Section 1. Temporary Road Closure. - A portion of Gov. J. Ariosa Street (particularly fronting the Señor Santo Niño Cathedral) from the corners of Cabrera and Sanson Streets shall be temporarily closed for vehicular traffic.
Section 2. Specific Period. - The period for the temporary closure of the above-mentioned street portions shall be from January 9-16, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM and January 2017-18, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 12:00 MN.
Section 3. Transitory Provision. - It shall be understood that the temporary closure shall automatically be lifted on January 19, 2026 and the above-mentioned road shall be open to all vehicular traffic.
Section 4. Effectivity. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon approval.
