CITY ORDINANCE NO. 2025-599 (Sponsored by: Honorable Monique Shaira Y. To) "AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF J. ARIOSA STREET SPECIFICALLY (FRONTING SANTO NINO CATHEDRAL) FROM CORNERS CABRERA AND SANSON STREETS, TO VEHICULAR TRAFFIC DURING THE FOLLOWING DATES AND TIME, TO WIT: JANUARY 10-18, 2025 FROM 1:00 O'CLOCK IN THE AFTERNOON UP TO 10:00 O'CLOCK IN THE EVENING; JANUARY 19, 2025 FROM 1:00 O'CLOCK IN THE MORNING UP TO 10:00 O'CLOCK IN THE EVENING; IN CONNECTION WITH THE WEEKLONG CELEBRATION OF THE ANNUAL FEAST OF SENOR SANTO NINO" WHEREAS, the City Government recognizes the need to ensure public safety and facilitate the smooth conduct of activities in connection with the weeklong celebration of the Annual Feast of Senor Santo Nino dubbed as "Pasalamat Festival;" WHEREAS, the temporary closure of certain portions of roads is deemed necessary to accommodate religious events, ensure public order, and avoid vehicular congestion during the said occasions, such that the temporary closure along J. Ariosa Street (from corner Cabrera Street to Corner Sanson Street) is being sought; WHEREAS, this body, in consideration of Section 21 of the Local Government Code of 1991 which provides that the Local Government Unit may, pursuant to an Ordinance, permanently or temporarily close or open any local road, alley, park, or square falling within its jurisdiction, deems it imperative to declare the temporary closure of the afore-mentioned streets to vehicular traffic; NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Sangguniang Panlungsod (14th City Council) of Pagadian City in session assembled that: Section 1. Temporary Road Closure. - Along J. Ariosa Street (particularly fronting the Senor Santo Nino Cathedral) from the corners of Cabrera and Sanson Streets. Section 2. Specific Period. - The period for the temporary closure of the above-mentioned street portions shall be from January 10-18, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM and January 19, 2025 from 1:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Section 3. Transitory Provision. - It shall be understood that the temporary closure shall automatically be lifted on January 20, 2025 and the above-mentioned road shall be open to all vehicular traffic. Section 4. Effectivity. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon approval.
