ORDINANCE NO: 2024-560 Sponsored by: Committee on Police, Fire and Public Safety "AN ORDINANCE EXTENDING TO FEBRUARY 10, 2024 THE TEMPORARY CLOSURE TO VEHICULAR TRAFFIC OF THE PORTION OF THE WESTERN LANE OF F.S. PAJARES AVENUE FROM CORNERS V. SAGUN STREET AND P.L. URRO STREET AS WELL AS THE SIDEWALK AND PARKING AREA OF A PORTION OF P.L. URRO STREET (PARTICULARLY FRONTING SAN JOSE PARISH CHURCH) FROM THE CORNERS OF B. AQUINO STREET AND F.S. PAJARES AVENUE, IN CONNECTION WITH THE CELEBRATION OF THE CHINESE NEW YEAR" WHEREAS, Section 21 of the Local Government Code provides that, (a) A local government unit may, pursuant to an ordinance permanently or temporarily close or open any local road, alley, park or square falling within its jurisdiction x x x; and (b) Any national or local road, alley, park or square may be temporarily closed during an actual emergency, or fiesta celebrations x x x the duration of which shall be specified by the local chief executive concerned in a written order x x x; WHEREAS, in line thereto, the Sangguniang Panlungsod, per request of the City Chief Executive, enacted City Ordinance No. 2023-556 which, in gist, approved the temporary closure to vehicular traffic of a portion of the Western Lane of F.S. Pajares Avenue from the corners of V. Sagun Street and P.L. Urro Street as well as the sidewalk and parking area of a portion of P.L. Urro Street (particularly fronting the San Jose Parish Church) from the corners of B. Aquino Street and F.S. Pajares Avenue, for a specific period from December 8, 2023 to January 21, 2024, in connection with the city's celebration of the "Paskuhan 2023" and the forthcoming "Pasalamat Festival 2024;"
