ORDINANCE NO: 2023-534 (Sponsored by: Committee on Laws, Rules and Policy Formulation) "AN ORDINANCE OFFICIALLY NAMING AS "ATTY. LUIS A. BERSALES, JR. STREET" THE UNNAMED ROAD STRETCH FROM JUNCTION J. P. RIZAL AVENUE UP TO JUNCTION B. F. ARAO AVENUE (KNOWN AS MEDINA COLLEGE AREA), AT BARANGAY BULATOK, THIS CITY" WHEREAS, pursuant to Paragraph (3), Section 13, Book 1 of the Local Government Code of 1991, the Sangguniang Panlungsod, in consultation with the National Historical Commission of the Philippines, has the authority to name streets as well as its local facilities such as public places, streets and structures owned by the City Government and located within its territorial jurisdiction; WHEREAS,?the road stretch from junction J.P. Rizal Avenue up to junction B. F. Arao Avenue, particularly the area known as Medina College, at Barangay Bulatok, this city, has long been existing with no designated name for identification; WHEREAS, the late Atty. Luis Ariosa Bersales, Jr. is an exemplary resident of the area, a dedicated civil servant and the donor of the above-mentioned road lot which have contributed much to the development of the barangay; WHEREAS, his legacy deserves to be commemorated and as such, the unnamed road stretch in the said barangay should be named in his honor; NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Sangguniang Panlungsod (14th City Council) of Pagadian City in session assembled that: SECTION 1. The unnamed road stretch from junction J.P. Rizal Avenue up to junction B.F. Arao Avenue (known as Medina College Area) at Barangay Bulatok, Pagadian City, is henceforth named as "ATTY. LUIS A. BERSALES, Jr. STREET." SECTION 2. Signage shall be placed along the street for the knowledge and guidance of the general public and in order to facilitate the delivery of postal matters. SECTION 3. The Office of the Secretary to the Sangguniang Panlungsod is hereby mandated to provide copies of this Ordinance to the National Historical Commission of the Philippines and the Philippine Postal Corporation, for their information and guidance. SECTION 4. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its approval.
