Gavenia "AN ORDINANCE DECLARING EVERY 18TH DAY OF DECEMBER AS OVERSEAS FILIPINO WORKER (OFW) DAY IN THE CITY OF PAGADIAN" WHEREAS, the City of Pagadian, along with the National Government, recognizes the great sacrifices and valuable contribution of the Overseas Filipino Workers which, through their remittances, have strengthened and uplifted our national economy; WHEREAS, in commemoration and in honor of their contribution as the modern-day heroes of the country, it is thus prim and proper to declare the 18th day of December of every year as OFW Day in the City of Pagadian; NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Sangguniang Panlungsod (13th City Council) of Pagadian City in session assembled that: Section 1. TITLE. - This Ordinance shall be known as "The Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) Day of Pagadian City." Section 2. SCOPE OF APPLICATION. - This Ordinance shall be applicable to all residents of Pagadian City who are working abroad/overseas, both sea and land-based workers. Section 3. COORDINATING BODY. - The Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of the City Government of Pagadian shall be the coordinating body of the OFW Day Celebration. Section 4. CELEBRATION. - The Pagadian Overseas Filipino Worker Global Association (POGA) in collaboration with the City Government of Pagadian through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) shall meaningfully celebrate the 18th day of December annually to commence on December 18, 2022. Section 5. REPEALING CLAUSE. - Any resolution or ordinance or parts thereof inconsistent hereof is/are hereby repealed or suspended accordingly. Section 6. EFFECTIVITY CLAUSE. - This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon approval.
