"AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR AN INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF MOTORIZED TRICYCLES FOR-HIRE ALLOWED TO OPERATE WITHIN THE JURISDICTION OF PAGADIAN CITY FROM TWO THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED FIFTY (2,850) UNITS TO THREE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED (3,500) UNITS AND, THEREBY, AMENDING SECTION 153, ARTICLE 6 OF CITY ORDINANCE NO. 2019-432, ENTITLED: "AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE ROAD NETWORK AND TRANSPORTATION MANAGEMENT CODE OF PAGADIAN CITY"
WHEREAS, apparently, Pagadian City-being the Regional Center for the Zamboanga Peninsula Region and given its vibrant economic condition-and in consideration of the present administration's robust effort to invite and attract large-scale investors, is saddled with the problem of providing adequate public transportation due to the influx of people, both local and foreign migrants, to include visitors and tourists alike;
WHEREAS, along with this dilemma is the growing demand among the public transport sector as well as the commuting public to increase the number of franchise to allow additional motorized tricycles to operate as for-hire in the City of Pagadian;
WHEREAS, after thorough evaluation and consideration, it is thus necessary to increase the number of motorized tricycles for-hire in the city for the interest and general welfare of the public;
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Sangguniang Panlungsod (13th City Council) of Pagadian City, in session assembled, that:
Section 1. - There shall be an increase in the number of motorized tricycles for-hire allowed to operate within the jurisdiction of Pagadian City from Two Thousand Eight Hundred Fifty (2,850) units to Three Thousand Five Hundred (3,500) units.
Section 2. - For purposes of this Ordinance, Section 153, Article 6 of City Ordinance No. 2018-400 is hereby amended which shall now be read as follows, to wit:
"Section 153. AUTHORIZED NUMBER OF UNITS. - The total number of motorized tricycles for-hire allowed to operate within the jurisdiction of Pagadian City shall be Three Thousand Five Hundred (3,500) units."
Section 3. Repealing Clause. All provisions or any part of any Ordinance inconsistent with this Ordinance shall be deemed amended, modified or repealed accordingly.
Section 4. Effectivity Clause. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon approval.
