ORDINANCE NO: 2018-419 (Sponsor: Committee on Police, Fire and Public Safety) "AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THE TEMPORARY CLOSURE TO VEHICULAR TRAFFIC A PORTION OF J. ARIOSA STREET FROM CORNER SANSON STREET UP TO CORNER CABRERA STREET DURING THE HEREIN SPECIFIED DATES AND TIMES OF THE DAY IN RELATION TO THE YEARLY CELEBRATION OF THE FEAST OF THE CITY'S PATRON SAINT, SENOR STO. NINO" WHEREAS, the annual celebration of the feast of Senor Sto. Nino is observed with the staging of traditional activities, wherein it is imperative and necessary to temporarily close a portion of the most affected thoroughfare in order for the safety and protection of the parishioners and to ensure peaceful and orderly conduct of the same as well; WHEREAS, Section 21 of the Local Government Code specifically provides that a Local Government Unit may, pursuant to an Ordinance, permanently close or open any local road, alley and park within its jurisdiction... and particularly stated in paragraph (c) Any national or local road, alley, park, or square may be temporarily closed during an actual emergency, or fiesta celebration... the duration of which shall be specified by the Local Chief Executive concerned in written order. WHEREAS, this temporary closure of road will result to the prohibition of parking of any vehicle within the area during the dates and time of lock-down; NOW THEREFORE, be it enacted, as it is hereby enacted, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod of the City of Pagadian, in session assembled, by virtue of the powers vested in it by law, that: Section 1. TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE. The portion of J. Ariosa Street from corner Sanson Street up to corner Cabrera Street shall be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic to give way for the various activities for the celebration of the feast of the city's patron saint, Senor Sto. Nino. Section 2. DATE AND TIME. The above-mentioned street portion will be closed during the days and times set forth below, to wit: a) SAYAW PASALAMAT: Date/s : January 11 up to January 18, 2019 Time : 2:30 in the afternoon to 8:00 in the evening b) MASS: Date : January 20, 2019 (Sunday) Time : 3:00 in the morning to 10:30 in the evening Section 3. Effectivity. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon approval.
