ORDINANCE NO: 2011-323 (Co-Sponsors: Committee on Tourism, Sisterhood Program, Arts & Culture; and Committee on Laws, Rules & Policy Formulation) "AN ORDINANCE DECLARING AND OBSERVING THE 26th DAY OF MARCH AS THE FOUNDING ANNIVERSARY OF PAGADIAN" Be it ordained by the Sangguniang Panlungsod (10th City Council) of Pagadian City in session assembled that: WHEREAS, records disclose that by virtue of Executive Order No. 77 issued by President Manuel L. Quezon, the Municipality of Pagadian was created on December 23, 1936; WHEREAS, in relation to the implementation of the Order, the first Mayor and other officials of the newly created Municipality of Pagadian were sworn to office on March 18, 1937 and thereafter Pagadian was officially inaugurated as a Municipality on 26 March 1937; WHEREAS, such significant events in the history of Pagadian, particularly the date of its inauguration, needs to be appropriately commemorated, celebrated and observed; NOW THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Sangguniang Panlungsod (10th City Council) in session assembled that: Section 1. Title - This Ordinance shall be known as "AN ORDINANCE DECLARING AND OBSERVING THE 26th DAY OF MARCH AS THE FOUNDING ANNIVERSARY OF PAGADIAN", otherwise known as "FOUNDING ANNIVERSARY OF PAGADIAN". Section 2. Activities. - Appropriate activities, as may be determined by a Multi-Sectoral Committee that shall be constituted to plan and oversee the celebration in accordance to an approved theme and undertake post-activity evaluations to further improve future activities, will be conducted. Section 3. Committee Composition. - The Multi-Sectoral Committee shall be composed of the following: Chairman: SP Committee on Tourism, Sisterhood Program, Arts & Culture Vice-Chairman: SP Committee on Barangay Affairs Members: 1) Chairman, Pagadian City Tourism Council 2) Chairman, SP Committee on Games, Amusements & Sports 3) City Tourism Officer 4) Representative of the Federation of Accredited NGOs 5) Representative of the Business Sector 6) Representative of the Academic Sector 7) Representative of the Agriculture Sector 8) Representative of the Transportation Sector 9) Representative of the Religious Sector Section 7. Appointments. - The representatives of the different sectors to the Multi-Sectoral Committee shall be appointed by the City Mayor. Section 8. - Term of Office. For the members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, membership in the Committee shall be effective with reference to their incumbency as Chairperson of the above-referred SP Committees. The membership of the Chairman of the Pagadian City Tourism Council and the sectoral representatives shall be co-terminus with the appointing authority unless otherwise such appointment is earlier revoked. Section 9. Effectivity. - This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its approval.
