ORDINANCE NO: 2011-317 Author: Honorable Baldomero Fernandez "AN ORDINANCE NAMING THE REGIONAL CENTER SITE AT BARANGAY BALINTAWAK, THIS CITY, AS PRESIDENT CORAZON C. AQUINO REGIONAL CENTER AND APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF ONE MILLION FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND (P1,500,000.00) PESOS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION, ESTABLISHMENT AND INSTALLATION OF MARKERS" WHEREAS, on 12 October 1990, the late President Corazon C. Aquino issued Executive Order No. 429 which, among others, designated the City of Pagadian as the Regional Center for Western Mindanao anchored on her desire to spur countryside development, guarantee the effective and efficient delivery of field services by government agencies and create a lasting solution to the Mindanao conflict; WHEREAS, such monumental legacy of the late President Corazon C. Aquino deserves the recognition, acknowledgement and lasting memory of the people of Pagadian City, hence, it is only worthy and appropriate that the designated Regional Center Site at Barangay Balintawak be named after her; NOW, THEREFORE, premises considered and by the powers vested in the Sangguniang Panlungsod under Section 13, Book I of the R.A. 7160, otherwise known as the Local Government Code of 1991; Be it Ordained by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in Session Assembled that: SECTION 1. - The Regional Center site at Barangay Balintawak, this City, shall henceforth be named and officially referred to as the "President Corazon C. Aquino Regional Center". SECTION 2. - For this purpose, the Office of the Secretary to the Sanggunian is hereby mandated to duly inform and provide the Office of the President through the Executive Secretary, the National Historical Institute and the Philippine Postal Corporation, among others, with copies of this Ordinance for their information and reference. SECTION 3. - There shall be allocated the sum of One Million Five Hundred Thousand (P1,500,000.00) Pesos from appropriate sources in the General Fund for purposes of constructing, establishing and installing signage and official markers at the President Corazon C. Aquino Regional Center. SECTION 4. - This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its approval.
