ORDINANCE NO: 2001-197 "AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE OFFICIAL SEAL OF THE SANGGUNIANG PANLUNGSOD OF PAGADIAN CITY" WHEREAS, Republic Act No. 5478, otherwise known as the Charter of the City of Pagadian, particularly Article III, Section 25 thereof, provides, among others, that there shall be a seal to be kept by the Secretary, circular in form with the inscription "City Board-City of Pagadian," in the center of which shall be the Coat of Arms of the City; WHEREAS, the Sangguniang Panlungsod (City Board) notwithstanding the foregoing provision of law, has not since adopted its own seal for all its official purposes and intents; WHEREFORE, be it ordained by the Sangguniang Panlungsod (7th City Council) of the City of Pagadian, in session assembled, that: Section 1. - There shall be adopted an official seal for the Sangguniang Panlungsod of the City of Pagadian for its own official use and shall have the following heraldic descriptions: "At the middle of the circular seal (in yellow background) is the Coat of Arms of the City which has been described in detail under Resolution No. 11, s. 1973. Behind the Coat of Arms stands a Mace (in brown) which since time immemorial has been the symbol of authority of a legislative body. The Coat of Arms and the Mace are firmly secured by the (color green) circular configuration of laurel leaves twelve (12) leaves on both sides of the upper inner arc, which, aside from denoting honor and glory also represent the twelve (12) members of the council, and the (green) solid based at the lower half inner arc with the (white) inscriptions: "Responsive. Fair. Steadfast", which allude to the manner and character by which the council passes laws and treats public issues and concerns. The outer circular area of the seal bears (in solid black letters) the words: "Sangguniang Panlungsod" at the upper arc and "Pagadian City" at the lower arc, separated by mallets of the Presiding Officer on both ends." Section 2. - This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its approval. ENACTED AND APPROVED by the Sangguniang Panlungsod (7th City Council) of Pagadian City on its 7th Regular Session held on August 22, 2001 at the Sangguniang Panlungsod Session Hall.
