ORDINANCE NO: 2000-180 "AN ORDINANCE NAMING THE NORTH DIVERSION ROAD AFTER THE LATE CITY MAYOR BENJAMIN F. ARAO AND SHALL HEREAFTER BE CALLED AS "MAYOR BENJAMIN F. ARAO AVENUE" WHEREAS, the construction of the North Diversion Road as well as the Integrated Bus Terminal and circumferential road along the said road were among the many tangible accomplishments of the City Government made possible through the effort of the late City Mayor Benjamin F. Arao; WHEREAS, these monumental legacies of the late City Mayor Benjamin F. Arao deserve the recognition, acknowledgement and lasting memory of the people of the City of Pagadian, hence, it is only fitting that the existing North Diversion Road should be named after him; NOW, THEREFORE, premises considered and by the powers vested in the Sangguniang Panlungsod under Section 13, Book I of the R.A. 7160, otherwise known as the Local Government Code of 1991; Be it ordained by the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Pagadian City in session assembled that: SECTION 1. - The entire stretch of the North Diversion Road shall be named after the late City Mayor Benjamin F. Arao and shall hereafter be called "Mayor Benjamin F. Arao Avenue". SECTION 2. - Effectivity. - This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its approval, copies of which shall be furnished the Office of the President through the Honorable Executive Secretary, Honorable Congressman Alejandro S. Urro, 1st District of Zamboanga del Sur and the Philippine Postal Corporation, this City, for their information and guidance. ENACTED AND APPROVED by the Sangguniang Panlungsod (6th City Council) of Pagadian City on its 86th Regular Session held on March 29, 2000 at the Sangguniang Panlungsod Session Hall.
