ORDINANCE NO. 25
"AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1 OF CITY ORDINANCE NO. 9-A ENTITLED: "AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE PLAYING OF MAHJONG IN THE CITY OF PAGADIAN AND IMPOSING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION THEREOF"
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE SANGGUNIANG PANLUNGSOD OF PAGADIAN CITY THAT:
SECTION 1. - Section 1 of City Ordinance No. 9-A is hereby amended to read:
"Section 1. No person, natural or juridical, shall allow, operate, or maintain the playing of mahjong as a business or otherwise without first securing the necessary permit from the City Mayor or his duly authorized representative and paying to the City Treasurer the following fees:
Permit Fee Annual License
(payable quarterly)
For one table P50.00 P720.00
For every additional table 400.00
SECTION 2. The playing of mahjong during birthday parties, anniversary celebrations, wakes and other special occasions shall be exempted from the payment of license fees; Provided, that a special permit is secured from the City Mayor.
SECTION 3. The playing of mahjong within the City of Pagadian, when allowed by this Ordinance, shall be from the hours 1:00 p.m. during Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays, excepting on special occasions, like wakes or vigils, when the game may be allowed throughout the evening.
SECTION 4. Minors shall be strictly prohibited from the playing of mahjong.
SECTION 5. Any person or persons, convicted by the Court for violation of any provisions of this Ordinance shall be punished by a fine of not less than One Hundred (P100.00) Pesos or not less than one (1) month nor more than three (3) months, or both such fine and imprisonment at the discretion of the Court. Owners or maintainers as well as participants or players of the game of mahjong shall be subject to the penal provisions hereof.
SECTION 6. Ordinance No. 36, series of 1972, is hereby repealed.
SECTION 7. - This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its approval.
